Nursing as a profession in healthcare truly began with Florence Nightingale. She was a trailblazing woman who organized and trained other women to become nurses during the Crimean War. Nightingale's care, compassion, and emphasis on cleanliness and sterility in hospitals launched the idea of modern nursing. Now we see people of all genders, races and backgrounds assuming the mantle of nurse, honoring the legacy created by this heroic woman!

Today, May 6th, is National Nurses Day! A day that celebrates Nurses and all the amazing acts of kindness and care they perform every day! Nurse Appreciation Week begins today and ends of May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday!
